La Costa Chica Series

I made these images in the town of Juchitan, along "La Costa Chica" in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Juchitan is an Afromestizo community of people of African and North American indigenous descent. In Juchitan, I have been documenting daily life, rituals and celebrations, and have also interviewed women about their traditional beliefs and healing practices.

These images were made with a Holga camera and printed by silver gelatin process on fiber.
